The Movie Database Support

Hello,

recently I was facing with a dilemma while I was fixing the runtimes of 4-episodes-miniserie The stand from 1994 (but obviously this could happen to any other serie with the same behaviour). I know that the rules say that about runtime we have to refer to the original broadcast of the single episodes, including opening and end credits, including the previews of the next episode (if present) etc., and we have to exclude the eventual commercials also. Ok, but what we do in case of fading to black of a scene in order to leave space to TV commercials, or in case of (which is not uncommon) deleting some scenes just why the episode is broadcasted in TV?

In every case above, often the bluray and/or dvd version are uncensored and without commercials also, etc. etc. but obviously is not the first original broadcast of the serie, going to create an alternate version of the episodes. All that entails an inevitable differences of the runtimes of two versions.

So, which is your position in these cases? Which version should we be referring to?
